We know that applying to college is a major milestone and we’re here to support you every step of the way. Whether you’re a first-year, transfer, or graduate student, here is some additional information you should know about applying to
51³Ô¹Ïapp.
Before You Apply
Use a Personal Email Address
We encourage all applicants to use a personal (non-school) email address when submitting their application. This helps ensure that you receive important updates, reminders, and your admissions decision without interruption—even after graduation.
Deadlines Matter
Stay informed of the application deadlines relevant to your student type (first-year, transfer, international, etc.). Submitting your application and supporting materials on time is the best way to stay on track for admission and financial aid consideration.
While You’re Applying
Supporting Documents
Submit only those documents that can be easily replaced if needed, such as transcripts, test scores (if applicable), or letters of recommendation. Please don’t mail irreplaceable originals, as submitted materials become part of your application
record and are not returned.
After You Apply
Track Your Application
Within a few weeks of submitting your application, you’ll receive an email with details on how to access your SBU applicant portal.
Missing Materials
If something is missing from your application file, you’ll be notified through your portal. While materials should be submitted by the application deadline, we understand that some documents may arrive shortly after. Please upload or send any missing
items as soon as possible to avoid delays.
