SHARE's mission is to enhance the student recruitment process by reaching out to SBU alumni and parents, creating a strong network of volunteers that can act as an extension of our Admissions Team.

Volunteer support is valuable for many reasons.

 

• SHARE volunteers help our Admissions Office to have a visible presence in more areas throughout the country, even internationally, so we are able to make connections with more students and families than we would otherwise be able to do. 

   

• Volunteers also understand their hometowns, so they are able to offer us insightful feedback on top-quality students in their area. 

   

• Through recruiting activities, volunteers are able to form individual relationships with prospective students.  These relationships make the recruiting process much more personal and illustrate the spirit of the Bonaventure family and community.

   

• Volunteers demonstrate to prospective students and their parents that SBU is a tradition that continues throughout life.

No. You can participate as much or as little as you would like; it’s up to you and what you can fit into your schedule.  We understand your time is valuable, but limited, so your assistance is much appreciated!

There are many types of activities in which you can get involved; just choose the ones that are of interest to you.  Please note that some of our territories and activities already have a good number of volunteers; however, we continue to engage the energy and talents of alumni and parents in many regions. 

 

We do ask that you please participate in the activities that you do sign up for because we do rely on volunteer efforts and take your involvement into account for our planning purposes.  Again, your involvement is valued and appreciated!

• Attend/ represent SBU at college fairs in your area                                                                                           
• Participate in the annual letter writing program
• Refer qualified students in your area
• Keep current SBU materials on hand for reference
• Host an event
• Assist the Admissions Team with recruitment or yield events on campus or special events in your area
• List your name and contact information on the SBU Admissions Web site and/or allow it to be given to prospective students who ask for an alumni contact in their area
• Encourage students to visit campus
• Suggest additional volunteers
