PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

A UFV Bachelor of Arts provides you with an opportunity to discover your passion and gain valuable skills in writing, communications, critical thinking, research, problem-solving, and more.

With 29 disciplines ready for you to explore, you get to build a breadth of knowledge that prepares you to succeed in a wide range of careers.

BA Year 1 & 2 - Explore your interests and complete core requirements

In your first and second year, you explore your interest through a range of elective credits  You also create the initial entries of a comprehensive ePortfolio that enables you to document the skills and knowledge you’ve acquired for your résumé or graduate application.

BA Years 3 & 4 - Specialize in an area of interest

After you complete 30 credits, you chart the course for the rest of your degree by selecting from a combination of major(s), extended minors, and minors in the following disciplines.

CAREER EXPECTATIONS

Career outcomes for Bachelor of Arts graduates relates to their chosen discipline and may include social services, management, community development, law enforcement, public relations, marketing and more.

Options are also open to pursue further studies and launch a career in arts, education, counselling, law, politics, or finance.

A long-range study by the Education Policy Research Initiative (EPRI) found that social sciences and humanities grads start out with average salary of $40,000 right after graduation. Thirteen years later, their earnings have moved steadily up to the $80,000 range, to match the average earnings of math and science grads.

UPGRADING OPTIONS

Apply to  if you do not currently meet the BA entry requirements in order to upgrade your qualifications for future admissions.

To meet the requirements  of this program, you will need to meet the prerequisites for Academic Writing (ENGL 105) or Communicating Professionally to Academic and Workplace Audiences (CMNS 125).

Upgrading English courses

There are several options to upgrade your English, including UFV CMNS 099 or ENGL 099 with a grade of C or better, UFV ENGL 081 or 091 with a grade of C+ or better, or UFV ESL WG84 with a grade of C+ or better. Please speak with a Qualifying Studies or International advisor to learn more about additional options.
